Ecommerce has revolutionized the business world and is increasing everyday.  In the year 2000 the United States alone had 135.7 million users.  There are so many benefits from ecommerce compared to having a regular business.  You are open 24 hours a day and don’t actually have to hold onto merchandise.  There are four main types of online businesses, business to business, business to consumer, consumer to business and consumer to consumer. 

            People from all ages are using the internet today.  The United States has about 135.7 million users according to pew research center.  World wide by 2000 about 49 percent of the nation was using the internet or had internet access. 

            In the music industry there are many record labels and companies as your competition.  Many of the record labels though don’t use the internet to listen to artists and research them.  The competition I would have to compete with would be facebook.com and youtube.com because they are both social networks where anyone can see who you are.  Other competition would be websites in fields closely related with music such as acting sites and casting sites.  Other competition would be websites in fields closely related with music such as acting sites and casting sites.    

            The internet has grown tremendously since the 1990’s.  The internet today is much easier to use.  People of all ages are able to use the internet without any training.  The interface of websites online has changed also to make it easier for the user and bring more attention to the sites.  Users would be able to get what they want as easy as possible.  The internet has every kind of ecommerce business type.  Everything is growing because technology allows for all these new things.  There are so many services and products you can buy online.        

            There are new internet trends that focus more around viral marketing and getting people to come to the site.  People tend to use the internet to research information rather than buy goods or services.  Websites are now easier to make than ever.  Software and layouts have made it so easy for anyone to make one.  The music industry on the internet is growing very fast.  Research shows that online music sites are being used by a growing number of listeners as a substitute for purchasing music.  This is a good thing because the more people go online to listen to music; the more traffic will go to the site.  Today many of the most popular websites have a decreasing traffic percentage.  Sites that focus on social networking, blogging and local information are now becoming very popular.  Also the Comscore’s data showed that social networking sites are getting so much attention than any other sites.  “The growth in blogging reminds us the Internet is fulfilling its original promise about participation” said Gary Arlen, a research analyst and president of Arlen communications Inc. 

            Technology has a huge impact on e-commerce today.  You can now buy almost everything you want online.  Technology has made it easier than ever for anyone to buy things online.  For example PayPal the main money transfer site makes it able for people who want to send money online can do it without having to worry about theft and are able to do it themselves.  Technology also makes it very easy to order what you want and have it in your possession in a matter of 24 hours.   If someone is in retail and are selling a large amount of products, they can use drop shipping.  The shipping is all done by the manufacture.  Since websites today are so updated with the latest software the standards for websites today are much higher then they were.  Technology has also advanced to the point where ecommerce is possible on mobile phones.  People can now buy things when they are traveling or when they aren’t at their home.
